Who would have thought that watching rich people pay big money to watch poor people who are so desperate for money that they are prepared to die in the pursuit of riches would be so popular? Well, it really is! Not only has it been one of the biggest Netflix phenomena ever, but it has now entered the casino sphere, with gaming sites worldwide eager to jump on the Squid Game bandwagon.
Indeed, Netflix has now put pen to paper for its first-ever licensing deal in the world of online gambling – as the Squid Game slot machine looks set to hit the casino floor in 2024… and we can’t wait!
The World Wide Hit
It was over two years ago that the first season of Squid Game came out. In 2021, the hit from South Korea graced our screens, and the interest was unprecedented. Although the idea had been in the offing since 2009, it wasn’t until 2019 that any production company took notice, when Netflix decided to take a chance on it to expand its foreign offerings. And boy, did the gamble pay off! After its 2021 release, it became one of the most-watched Netflix offerings ever (yes, even bigger than Harkle and Markle!).
It has since spawned a new Netflix show – Squid Game: The Challenge, where real people take on the gameshow (although without the prospect of death, one would assume). And we can expect a long-awaited Season 2, which is apparently due to be released in late 2024. However, it’s transcended the world of TV and entered the casino sphere.
The New Squid Game Slot
Netflix has now approved the development of the exciting new “Squid Game” slot machine — which is the streaming giant’s first foray into the lucrative world of gambling. The slot game, created by gaming company Light & Wonder, draws inspiration from the aforementioned popular South Korean survival drama and will stay true to many areas of the TV show.
It will incorporate some of the series’ most iconic and terrifying games, including the deadly doll’s Red Light, Green Light game, Tug of War, and the nail-biting Glass Tile.
This Squid Game slot machine will be featured in Light & Wonder’s Horizon large-screen jumbo cabinet, highlighting a 75-inch display with 600,000 micro-LED pixels – for the gaming experience of a lifetime. It will incorporate a 27-inch touchscreen, equipped with a mobile charger and dual play buttons, so you can expect a truly immersive and seamless gaming experience that won’t disappoint.
As well as this, Light & Wonder plans to introduce a digital slot game with three different bonus rounds themed around “Squid Game.” The slot machine is set to debut in casinos by 2024 and will offer a huge top prize ranging from $200,000 to $400,000, depending on its setup.

The Name Behind the Game
Light & Wonder, based in Las Vegas (previously known as Scientific Games), boasts a global workforce of 6,000 employees. The company develops and promotes a range of physical and digital games, which looks like it could be their biggest hit yet.
A Global Franchise
Meanwhile, Netflix is setting itself up for even more Squid Game action – looking to launch an interactive experience named “Squid Game: The Trials” in L.A. starting on December 6.
Those who want to take part will have a go at six different challenges within 70 minutes, with tickets available from $39. All these initiatives… including the slot machine and the real-life game, show that Netflix is definitely ready to expand the Squid Game franchise.
So, are you ready to take part in the Squid Game? Well, with the new slot, you get the chance to play for top casino payouts without risking life and limb!
